This resource contains the key information about Holy Week. I have included some clips, embedded into the slides, from Jesus Christ Superstar to jazz things up a little and there is an accompanying differentiated worksheet to allow the class to familiarise themselves with Bible references. A PowerPoint containing the history, meaning of and importance of the Eucharist for CATHOLICS. This is specifically made for the Catholic curriculum and focuses on Catholic teachings based on the theological roots of Communion. I use this with my top set Year 8s but this could easily be transferred to Y9 and KS4.

An introductory lesson to Religion, peace and conflict. This PowerPoint includes various activities designed to engage students and get them thinking about what causes war and how far religion plays a part in this. A lesson plan and worksheet is also attached. Please comment :)
This is a lesson designed to introduce students to the split between Sunni and Shia Islam, as well as some of the key differences and similarities between them in everyday life and practices. This lesson has a key word and exam question focus, following the AQA GCSE 9-1 specification. I have included a 4 mark (part C) exam question, along with guidance about how to answer it and a WAGOLL for students to annotate and compare their answers to. I have created this for Yr8 (as we sit our GCSE RS in Year 10), but can easily be adapted and used for KS4 as it is a useful intro to one of the key Islamic concepts. There is also an accompanying website as one of the slide leads to an external BBC link, which can be used in the classroom to explore 5 different aspects of Muslim life and practices. This is a PowerPoint for use in a GCSE RS lesson, specifically about euthanasia. We follow (at the moment) OCR GCSE RS Spec B, but this could be used with any specification which involves the study of ethics within medicine. This PowerPoint includes interactive discussions, 3 video clips to spark discussion and debate (see 'notes' section of each slide), and an exam style question - which is then broken down into a WAGOLL and highlighted into PEE (Point, Evidence, Explanation). This is a PowerPoint which directs students to undertake a carousel activity. The objectives for the lesson have been broken down into target levels, following the new 1-9 GCSE system. The worksheets have on them the Bible stories of 7 key events in Jesus' life: Jesus is lost in the temple, Jesus is tempted, The triumphal entry into Jerusalem, Jesus calms a storm, Jesus' baptism, The wedding at Canaa, and The Beatitudes from the Sermon on the Mount. Students have to work their way around each story, read it, summarise it, and then answer one of 2 evaluation questions about the significance of that event in Jesus' life. The conclusion activity involves a diamond 9 exercise, and an exam style evaluation question - which is broken down into helpful sentence starters and structure. One of the slides refers to a 'sheet', but you can just ask students to make notes in their exercise books. Please comment and leave feedback :)

This is a PowerPoint presentation to teach students about the papacy and the process of papal elections. I made this in response to some questions from my year 7's and thought it would tie in nicely with what&'s happening in the Catholic Church at the moment. This is a lesson for KS3 RE, and it is aimed at trying to encourage independent learning. This is an interactive lessons, in which discussion are had about Jesus' ancestors and where in the world he came from, as well as introducing students to the concept of a 'prophecy' and the prophecies of Jesus' birth. Students then have to read 2 accounts of Jesus' birth from the gospels, and compare and contrast them using a Venn diagram to record their ideas. This is a lesson designed for the new AQA GCSE 1-9 RS specification, but can be used across all exam boards I would imagine. This focuses primarily on the Messianic prophecies in the Old Testament, and Jesus' role as the 'Word'. It also has a slide showing Jesus' role in the salvation of humans. There are differentiated plenary questions at the end.
This lesson includes a PPT, worksheet (sorting activity) and WAGOLL (what a good one looks like) for a 12 mark exam question at the end, with mark scheme. This lesson is intended for use with the AQA GCSE Religious Studies scheme of work.
This is a PowerPoint which can be used in GCSE RS, when looking at the equality and roles of men and women within the Christian Church. This lesson looks at the hierarchy of the Catholic Church, and examines the reasons why some people argue that women cannot be priests. It also looks at conflicting views which argue that women can fulfil the role of a priest just as well as a man. There is a clip from the Vicar of Dibley (the arrival of Geraldine) from YouTube to spark discussion about the stereotypical views of priests, as well as a clip from the BBC which addresses the arguments for and against women as priests. I have created a scheme of work for KS3 (this is for our year 8s), which links into our three year KS4 GCSE. The exams are taken in Year 10, so year 8 is an important 'prep' year for us. This scheme of work has three themes, and each one is studied from a Christian and Muslim perspective. I have also included: key word glossaries for each unit; PLCs (personal learning checklists using the red/amber/green system) for each unit; and homework 'menus' for the first 2 small terms. This is a lesson about inspirational figures in religion: Jesus, Muhammad and Guru Nanak. It is mainly an independent lesson, as the main task requires students to read information to create a fact file. This is useful lesson perhaps for tutor time, or an extended project. Can also be used as part of historical Christianity.
This is a project/analysis based lesson, around the case: Was the Trinity present during Creation? I've created this to challenge students, and in line with the new AQA GCSE 1-9 specification. I think it would be better suited to more able students, but can be adapted and tweaked for lower abilities I'm sure. This lesson includes a PowerPoint and a 'case file' of resources, which students need to read and analyse and come to a 'judgment' about whether or not they think the Trinity was present during the creation in Genesis.

I have created a Year 9/10 scheme of work based on the new AQA 1-9 RS GCSE. However, it is split into 2: one for a WEEKLY lesson, and one for a FORTNIGHTLY lesson as we have 3 across the fortnight in Year 9. Weekly lessons deal with component 1, and fortnightly lessons deal with component 2 (themes). I have also produced a term's homework 'menu, as well as PLCs (personal learning checklist using the red/amber/green system) and the first lesson for both component 1 and component 2 are attached.
